Hello, Im going to make this as short as possible.

I would like to go to school some day for art but I wish to develop my artistic skills first. Im a beginner to put it bluntly.
Can anyone recommend good affordable books and resources to help me get started? Sketching, color theory, form, perspective, painting, design, etc..

For figures and anatomy check out the Loomis books:

or try youtube or google-ing Ron Lemen, he has some good things. For vehicles and such try Feng Zhu. If you can find anything by Craig Mullins he has excellent color value instincts. You might have better luck finding resources over at conceptart.org though, since its still an active forum.
