Everyone's talking about the old glory days of Sijun speedpainting now when things have taken of with the facebook group. I'm sad I missed it. Before my time I think.
Anyhow, a few more 30 minute paintings.

Bierberg> The tnt beach is funny. Haa. And love the last post very much.
Mon> Love the purplish color scheme piece very much. Masterful work as usual.
Ranath> Cool dog. Love the brush strokes.
Alexson> Nice~
carbofos> Love the works. The brush stroke for the first piece is interesting.
Still love this place because the mood is much more relaxing. And much respect for sumaleth for keeping this place up and running.
About spitpainting, I guess it's still a good thing. I mean you see people posting and once in a while there will be pieces with great ideas. Still inspiring to see. I guess it's once of those places where by you can get to know more people? Artist in this case rather than getting too caught up with the technique of execution. For me personally, i guess people will have different phases in their life, and I feel doing 30 minute painting kind of get the kick out from the experimentation we can do with any loose painting or speedpainting. Anyway, just do and have fun. Whatever works for you! Haa.
One for today. Not so fast speedpainting. About 3 to 4 hrs?

Simon Gustafsson: Nice clean character shapes.
Wol: Dig the heavy looking grunt.
Bierberg: Cheers. That TNT beach is super nice.
Nide: Dig the simplicity of the dude in the water.
Alexson: Superb little sketches. Bravo!
Ranath: Hehe... I use an old record bag with soldering wire sewn into the hem of the flap and opening. Works as a bag to carry my sketching shit, but then I can open it up and bend it into a little tent to cut screen glare down. Oh, and sweet doggie strokes!
Mon: Delicious lost/found elements as always.
Lakka: Love that bowler hat dude.
Carbofos: Great to see miltiple takes on a subject. Nice.
RayToh: Always enjoy your work. I dig the mecha/sentry design and the mute, suggestive background.
A super quick plein air of Ynyslas dunes, Wales. Tip: where there's sand and wind, best to cover your auxiliary holes and USB ports with masking tape.
About this spitpaint thing. I hadn't heard about it until today. I like the idea, but I don't have anything to do with FB. Also, I'm with RayToh regarding Sijun and the vibe here. I don't post much but this thread, or rather the previous one, was the reason I decided to pick up a Wacom and start scribbling. It would be nice to see some similar form of topic based fun here. The monthly topics never seemed to generate much interest, which is a shame, but for the price of a new thread each month, I still think it's worth doing.
And what about trying to drum up a little more riffing and communal fun in this thread? There have been some great little moments in the past when someone posted a speedpaint and others were inspired to play around with the theme or main elements. Even something as simple as Sumaleth dropping by with a key word or phrase every now and then...
'The trouble with NIGHT SCENES is...'
'I feel a little ORANGE coming on!'
'The world would be a safer place with more HEADGEAR!'
'Which one of you sunk my BATTLE SHIP?!'
etc... etc...
I think anything that can generate a little more feeling of collective participation would be great for this thread. |

There's this facebook group called Daily Spitpaint. New topics posted everyday. 30mins limit, no photos. So many amazing artists posting there!

love the colors nide!
spent 2 hours trying to use a reference... I make everything so wonky that it kills me, it's like one eye is falling off, mouth is looking at a different direction, and it goes on and on.... and so, behold, a generic face

carbo, I think you did a gret job capturing the moment, and tbh the only thing distracting me at all is the way the brushstrokes on the water, the way the size of the stroke doesnt correlate with the depth, it kind of flattens it just a bit, but the colors are beautiful.. especially love these 2 boats in the center with the tones of the sky.

Thanks Lakka. You're too kind!
Thanks Simon. T^T
carbofos> The painting looks good to me. You're stuck as in, are you trying to bring it further? or? I love the mood and the color you used. The color of the wet soil ,I assume, and the dry soil looks really nice too.
One for today. Armoured man with Guns = cool. End of story. Haaa. Keep doing the same thing. Need to try something else to screw with my brain.

Happy to hear it Suma!
Carbo. reading through RayToh's comment, so it was wet soil... I am a bit colorblind, so just skip that ... still, the strokes on the *wetsoil are the only thing that is distracting my eyes from looking at the whole
Raytoh, JUST TAKE IT
