I've thinked about all the feedback you puke out of your mouth and I've wondered why you guys always flatter people of pictures that are so crap??!?! I don't mean that you should say to author that it's shit, but it's a way more repective and helpful to tell to author what he/she would have to change in the pic that I would be even a little better.

I know that most of you give helpful feedback, but please stop flattering. Of course few words to courage the artist are good, but there are limit between flattering and encouraging. I almost puke everytime you say like "oooooh..it's SO good pic! Awesome!" when I can see (and I suppose that you can see it also) that it's not-so-well-made picture.

So I suppose that most of you are young or not very talented, because otherwise you would agree with me and stop chewing that bullshit.
If picture looks awful, then tell the author what he would have to change there, and maybe HOW he would have to change them, not just "pretty c00l pic!".

This is for the best of newbies, not complaining of them or fucking up with you more talented people out there.
So please give a few minutes to thinking of what I've just said and the world would be a better place. : )

Beam, that's harsh, man!
You should slap yourself for not going through this board before throwing s*it on here. We've already hade a big discussion about talking crap on someone else's art. We agreed on "construcive criticism." And I think we're doing a good job. Totally shooting someone down and destroying their momentum (considering most of them are newbies) doesn't bring any good.
So reach down deep and pull that thick ass stick out of your ass and join the board.

Welcome!

"So I suppose that most of you are young or not very talented"

Hey, think about what you're saying before chomp'n at the bit. There are a lot of young, TALENTED artists who post on this board. There is however a difference between skill and talent ... a lot of these people come from backgrounds without formal training especially in the areas that they're working in. So calm down.

I do agree however that the lack of real feedback is almost discuraging to a lot of these people ... if you post a picture and ask for feedback and ALL anyone says is "Yeah, that's pretty" ... you're not really getting anything out of it.

With all that said, yes, I am a digital art newbie to a certain extent ... and no, I'm not even working on anything right now, too busy working with traditional media.

i think the man should not only pull the stick out of his ass...he should hit himself with it too.

after that, put up a nice piece of artwork for us hounds to see...
once that's done, i think he can join the board =)

either that or he wrote all that as a huge flame to all artists...
therapists would tell you to vent your anger and sad feelings through such happy creative outlets as...hmm painting

so lets see what you got mate

I participated with this picture to Assembly'99 party and I was placed 2nd at graphics compo.
This is quite old picture, but still...

So, fuck it or like it...I think it sucks. Too blurry and stuff. : ) But hell you guys know this crap already.

Have fun.

B,

wtf?
How this has anything to do with my pics?

"just curious"
Ha. Why you are asking me this stuff?
Maybe I'm stupid or something, but I just can't figure out where you're heading...

But yeah, I might some day fix this picture, someway, but dunno yet. I prefer to make better pictures every time I make them, so I don't need to fix my older pictures. And besides, if you keep fixing only one picture week after week, you won't learn much there. But I suppose that you know this shit already.

But where's the criticism?

Ok, I'm sorry if I pissed some of you guys off, that wasn't what I ment. I'm just pissed off myself at the moment because of few matters, but maybe it's not an excuse.
Agh..no more this crap. I'm out.

Hey beam,

a question: what kind of resolution do you usually work in? Take that nippon steel for example. Great pic btw, but I find the lighteffects around the ninja a bit annoying.

You got some more pics to show off?

B,

ok. So we're even.
And about your Q, I can't remember. Not too many hours tho. Somewhere between 5-10.

and wakestarr,

the word resolution can be understood in many ways.
Monitor resolution, picture resolution (dpi or widthxheight) etc..

Well I'll answer to all those:
My workbench is 1280x1024, I always draw pictures as their real size (in Nippon Steel it was 640x480) so I don't resize pictures, and my dpi is somewhere between 72-300, depends on a pic I'm working on.

Have I deserved my place in this board?
If we don't count what I said earlier in this topic.

Make love, not war...
