My second attempt at a digital painting... anybody have any suggestions? I'm really hoping to get good at this type of stuff.
(for those of you who may notice, yes, i based the T-rex off of the rex design from jurassic park)

pretty amazing very nice picture... love the colors.
you asked for suggestions, so here I go..
the right leg of the person sitting on the dino is a little ( weird , flat ) I don't know what, but it's not entirely right.
And it would be nice to work on the background, it looks like a flat picture behind it.. put some trees in front of the dino, and som in back to create some depth ..
btw the red on the dinosaur, is that a light source or is the dino red ? cause if it is a lightsource you'll have to paint the leg of the guy also..
hope this helps ..
but overall it's very good

Great image, very detailed.
From my point of view, only the background needs touching up. I think it needs more depth, maybe? Asides from that, it kicks ass!
By the way, this reminds me of Dinotopia

Hehe, i like.. The dino is amazing.
You might want to go through on the dino, and with a medium BURN brush (Set to highlights) Fluff the edges so that they quickly drop to black.
You did it a little bit, but try to see if you can make it look like an "outline" type thin. The contrast of colors over the left eyebrow against the background is why i say this.
Otherwise, very nice..

Thanks all!
Yeah.... the background i was really worried about. Its soo hard to pull off a convincing jungle without just taking a photo and pasting it in :|
I'll see what i can do about that.
As for the Trex, well... the red wasn't supposed to be lighting, he's just supposed to be naturally red. Does it look like its just lighting tho or is just too red? Hmm.
I think the reason he looks so young is because originally I had intended the knight to be a woman and then kinda changed my mind on that after I already did the head (if you notice, there's even a left-over earing on one ear).
The thing that i'm most worried about with this pic is that it doesn't really have any particular style to the art.

Hmm also, I can't really use that suggestion on the special burning because that sounds like something on Photoshop, and unfortunatly I dont actually have any version of Photoshop

Love the image.. just can't see the dino as anything other than a huge gummy-sourus
But I love the detail on the texture
The eye is also very nice.

nice work,
Tips for background...
got a digital camra? can you barrow one?
take some images of trees outside.
if not then point by hand..
You have White? in the background..
The Jungle, is always Dark, little light gets thor. darken the background
I agree with the Right leg debate.. How about a Stattel like one of the horse?
Cool work!

Ummmm...If you didn't do this in Photoshop, what did you use? Painter? PSP? Or did you actually hack into MSNPaint and rework the configs..hehe |
